Jessica Walker

University Stanford
#########################################################
Congratuation to Jessica and her family, all the hard work of last two years paid off I am happy for you.
When I started my training with her on 2005 two years ago, this what I wrote to a lots of coaches about her:

"With in two years of training with Jessie, she will be good enough to play on any D-I school that she desires".
Her coach: Ron Roodgari

It was a big challenge and so much fun for me to trian Jessie last two years.
The reasons that she has reached her maximum potential were:
Her potential ability, her attitude and a great training.
Good Luck, with your great choose.
Life Is Good,,,,, It's Nice To Be Jessica!

Subject: Jessica Walker and Nebraska: A Great Match!

Hi Ron,

Thank you for sharing your time with me in Colorado during the tournament. I truly appreciate your efforts in providing an opportunity for girls who are in need of a coach who puts their athletes’ interests first. Your work, your efforts, your commitment in servicing your players as a mentor, counselor, and friend is quite noble and please know that we, at Nebraska, recognize the importance you have in young people’s lives and the community you support. At Nebraska, we share your passion and philosophy for volleyball and servicing young athletes. You’ll have many college programs boasting similar virtues. We know you’ll come to find that Nebraska is more about action than words. Our student-athletes come first here. It is evident in our new state-of-the-art $50 million project that primarily benefits the student-athletes directly. Here is a list of the soon-to-be-completed project:

Coach Cook and I appreciate your assistance in the recruitment of Jessica Walker.
She is our top priority for the 2008 recruiting class. We are ready to offer her a scholarship right now!
Please share this email with her.

Please let Jessica know she is welcome to contact us anytime. Ron, I look forward to seeing you soon. If you have any questions, please make sure to contact me.

Ron,

I received this great email from Barbara Walker yesterday and wanted to thank you for communicating to her our interest in Jessica. She may know that I cannot write directly back to her until Jessica enters her junior year of high school, but in case she doesn’t, please pass this on to her.

I am so impressed with Jessica’s academic achievements. Wow, her grades and accomplishments are very impressive. This makes me feel even better about recruiting her to Cal. Cal’s academic reputation is literally “second to none”. Berkeley is always ranked as the number one public institution in the country and just recently the London Times survey college professors all over the world. Their consensus was that Cal was the number two institution in the WORLD behind only Harvard for education, location, research and desirability to teach at. Cal will have something to offer Jessica in every way. We are located across The Bay from San Francisco (and can see the Golden Gate Bridge from several spots on campus). Berkeley is a highly diverse campus and community with academics as a high priority but an athletic tradition that can hold its own against anybody. Our excellent academic advising program insures that our athletes graduate and become motivated scholars.

We are very excited about our future in volleyball as our team has improved every year and are a regular in the NCAA tournament. In 2006 we may put our best ever team on the floor and we are expecting 2007 and 2008 to get better still. I realize this is very early n the process to be thinking seriously about college choices, but I have no doubt that schools have already made offers to you for scholarships. I believe that an offer can be made at anytime that both coach and athlete are sure about their choice. I think that assurance can only come through face to face meetings with the athlete and her family (or representative) and the coach of the university. Rule do not permit any face to face contact until July 1st of prior to your senior year unless that contact takes place on the college campus. I would love to invite you to our campus for a visit realizing that this may be a hard thing to do. Keep in mind and in the meantime, research Cal and my program here. Look into our past and see how we have built our program. Look at my history and my assistants. See where we have been and what we have accomplished. Also, at Cal we have had several Texans come here and they have all been very happy. One of our non-Texans, Angie Pressey, has a large family contingent that is from Texas as well.

Please feel free to write to me or call anytime. Please also know that my communication with you must go through Ron or someone at Spike Sport for now. Thanks again for showing your interest in our program.

Ron – First and foremost, I want to thank you for everything yesterday. It was great to meet you and I want to thank you again for the wonderful lunch. I enjoyed talking with you and I thought the food was tremendous. Also, it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to watch film with you, talk volleyball and observe one of your practices. I have to say I enjoyed every aspect of my trip to Houston. I hope that watching film together during the day was helpful. It is obvious to me that you want to do things the right way and do what is best for your players. I admire coaches who are coaching at the club level for the right reasons and want to become better coaches in order to help their players improve. Clearly, you are one of those coaches. If I can assist you in any way in the future, please do not hesitate to ask.

As for Jessica, there is no doubt she has the potential to be an outstanding volleyball player. While she lacks the experience that others may have, there is no question she has the ability to become a great player if she receives the proper training. There are a lot of very good college volleyball programs but I can say with complete sincerity that we can provide her with the best coaching available at the collegiate level today. She will be a good player at any school and she will enjoy success at any of the top programs but no school can give her what we can. We will help her develop into one of the top players in the country and, if she is willing to put in the time and effort and will follow our training program, by the time she graduates, she will be ready for the U.S. National Team. I will never bad-mouth another school or coach but I will tell you that none of the schools she is considering can match us for training and development. Since it is clear that Jessica is a strong student, I would also like to note that the University of Washington is one of the best public universities in the country and offers its students a tremendous education. We also have one of the strongest academic support services in the nation. It is a wonderful resource for all of the athletes and it helps ensure that our student-athletes have every opportunity to excel academically. Needless to say, I am extremely interested in Jessica and would love for her to become a member of our program. In addition to her volleyball talents and being a strong student, it seems obvious that she is also a wonderful young lady. Since arriving at Washington, we have tried to bring in young ladies that are not only good volleyball players but are strong academically and have strong character. Given that Jessica clearly has all of these attributes, and given the fact that, in my estimation, Washington offers the best combination of academics and athletics available today, Jessica would fit in wonderfully at Washington. I realize that she is considering other schools and we are only now beginning to recruit her in earnest. As a result, I was hoping you might be able to provide me with some guidance on how you think I should approach her recruitment. I know other coaches will tell her what she wants to hear and she will be told that she will make the U.S. National Team but, if she really has that as her goal, she needs to go to a school that will train her properly. While I cannot promise you that if she

comes to Washington, she will make the U.S. National Team, I can tell you that we will give her the best chance to do so. Our success in developing players is well-documented and we can help Jessica reach her goals. I just need some advice from you on how best to communicate all of this to Jessica and her family. I would welcome any suggestions you can provide as to how best to convey this message. Before closing, I want to thank you again for everything you did for me yesterday and for bringing Jessica to my attention. It was a pleasure to come to Houston for the day and there is no question that Jessica has the potential to become a great player during her collegiate career. She just has to receive the right coaching to reach her full potential.I look forward to hearing from you and look forward to seeing you again in Dallas at the Lone Star Classic in April.

Jessica,

Hey there how are you doing? Is your high school season going well so far?

Hopefully you are enjoying your junior year and leading your team on and off the court! We are heading to Nebraska this weekend to play in one of the toughest tournaments of the year! We play #25 Cal Poly who just upset Texas last weekend, #20 Louisville, and #1 Nebraska. We should be back to close to full strength this weekend and will have a chance to surprise and upset all of these teams! Our match against Nebraska will be shown tape delayed on CSTV so when I hear what time and date I will let you know. Be on the lookout for our next mailing, we will be sending you our 2006 media guide....it should be cool! Best of luck in your upcoming matches and we look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Ron,

We are very interested in learning more about Jessica Walker. I hear that she is a pretty special athlete. If you could please reply back with a mailing address and email address for her I would greatly appreciate it. We are looking forward to seeing her play. Will she be at Lone Star and/or any other qualifiers or tournaments in Austin?

Ron:

I just wanted to say thanks for allowing Craig and me to watch practice. It was definitely entertaining and we got to see exactly what we needed to see. You still have it. Amazing is the only way to describe it. Jessica’s mother e-mailed me this morning and thanked us for coming. She attached some awesome pictures as well. Since I can’t respond directly to her, please tell her thanks and we appreciate her kind remarks. She has a very special daughter, not just as a volleyball athlete, but obviously as a person and a student. I realize I don’t’ really know her, but just from the small amount I have watched, I know she is a great kid. I am very anxious to get to know her better. I also want to be sure that she and Jessie realize there is a scholarship offer from LSU with her name on it waiting for her. We definitely want her to be a TIGER!! We would love to have her visit campus and see all that we have to offer. We will definitely keep in touch. Please keep us posted as well. Good luck this weekend.

P.S. Don’t forget to send my Pat’s e-mail address.

Ron,

I am following up again with you about Jessica Walker. As we spoke earlier regarding the offer of a scholarship, our philosophy is to wait until we get to know a recruit before we offer them.

This by no means diminishes our level of interest in Jessica. We have a scholarship for a 2008 middle blocker and we know Jessica is one of if not the top middle in the country. We are trying to keep within our philosophy of recruiting even though many other schools are pressuring and offering out scholarships to sophomores already.

If Jessica is interested in the University of Minnesota (her mom has emailed us several times but we can’t reply due to the rules) and would consider doing a visit, we would love to have her on campus. If she is the right fit for our program and she likes what she sees then we would offer her a full scholarship. We will be at the USA Junior and Youth National team practices in Florida and hope to see her there if not before!

If you could forward this email to her Mom and let her know of our interest again.

Thanks for your help. Jessica or her mom can call Mike Hebert at (612) 749-2777.

Hi Ron,

Don Hardin here again from Illinois. Hate to keep bothering you, but would like to come down to a practice or two before J.O.’s Could you suggest to me some dates over the next few weeks? Maybe, if you have the time, before or after a practice, I would really like to spend some time with you? Again, I hope this will not be a bother. We received the very nice e-mail below from Barbara and would like to let her know of our sincere interest and why we think we are a good fit for Jessica. Please feel free to pass along my cell number 217 649-4810 – she may call any time – or you of course may call as well. I know you are busy, but I hope to hear back from you so that I can make some travel plan

Hi Ron,

It was great to meet you this past weekend in Denver. I enjoyed watching your team play. They have a great competitive spirit and they compete hard.
I’m emailing to see if you could please forward me your practice schedule for the next couple of weeks. We are planning to come watch a practice.

I also wanted to let you know that we will be playing in the Tornados College Showcase on April 14th at 6:30pm and on April 15th, but I’m not sure of the times for the 15th. If you could please encourage Jessica to come watch us play so she can see and learn about our team. We would also like to encourage her to visit us unofficially soon so she can get a feel for our campus, team, and staff.

Please let her know that we are interested and that the only contact we can have right now with her is if it is initiated by her due to NCAA rules. I would love to hear from her so when and if she wants to talk please have her call me.

Thanks for your help with Jessica. It is greatly appreciated. Take care!

Ron – It has been more than five weeks since I flew down to Houston to watch Jessica Walker practice and let you know that we were extremely interested in her joining our program. In my correspondence with you since that time, I have asked that you have Jessica or her family get in touch with me so that we could communicate directly with her and begin to provide her with information on the University of Washington and to let her know of our sincere interest in her. Unfortunately, neither Jessica nor her family has made an effort to contact us. At this point, in order to better gauge her interest, I would like to send her an e-mail note (assuming she or her parents have an e-mail address) or a letter. In that connection, I am hoping that you would be kind enough to provide me with her contact information so that I can get in touch with her. I remain extremely interested in Jessica but, as you know, with the recruiting process seeming to move more quickly each year, I need to determine if she has a true interest in our program or if I should be focusing my recruiting efforts elsewhere. I still believe that in the right program, Jessica can develop into one of the premier players in the country and, as a so-called “teaching program”, I think we are the best fit for her. I fear that if she were to go one of the many schools that recruits highly rated players each year but is not adept at helping them develop, she may not progress as she should and she may never reach her full potential. Our track record is clear proof that we do develop our players and help them become the best they can be.

Thank you for your continued assistance and, in advance, thank you for sending me Jessica’s contact information. Rest assured, we will not inundate her with messages but, instead, I just want to try and make direct contact and try and see if the interest is mutual.
I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Jessica,

By now you should have received the media guide and personal note we sent you via snail mail on September 1st. We know that you are probably OVERWHELMED with emails, letters, and the whole recruiting process in general, but we think it’s good to be in your shoes – you have a lot of options. We think that you are a phenomenal athlete with a lot of upside and we’d like to know if we are on your list. We don’t want to waste your time if you don’t have interest, but we hope that you do have interest.

I’ve attached a chart that compares the top 20 national universities according to U.S. News & World Report and the NACDA Director’s Cup point standings for last year (2005-2006) which recognizes the universities with the best overall athletics programs. As you can see, there are only three universities that appear in the top 20 on both lists: Stanford, Duke, and the UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME. We hope that this fun fact has generated interest in our program and university. Please email us back and let us know if we can continue to correspond with you. We heard that you weren’t playing on your high school team, so we hope that your private lessons are going well.
Take care and Go Irish!

club. If you would like to forward there contact information to us that
would be great.
Thanks again and good luck with the rest of the club season.

Take care and GO BLUE!!!
